Production automations in n8n, built like software
The brief
Connect the tools a team already uses, so data moves on its own and nothing breaks silently.
Most automations fail quietly. A field changes upstream, a step errors, and nobody notices for weeks. The goal was automation the team could trust and maintain.
- 01 Trigger
- 02 Validate
- 03 AI step
- 04 Sync
- 05 Notify
- 06 Monitor
Fig. — System schematic. A trigger starts the workflow, input is validated, an AI step runs, data syncs to CRM and database, the team is notified and runs are monitored.
What we built
- 01
Patterns, not one-offs
Every workflow follows a known pattern (webhook processing, API integration, database sync, AI agent or scheduled job), so the next person can read it at a glance.
- 02
Checked before it runs
Each step’s configuration is verified against its documentation, and every workflow passes validation at increasing strictness before it goes live. No hard-coded keys.
- 03
Built to fail loudly
Error handling on every step that can fail, tests with representative data, and close monitoring of the first live runs.
How we worked
- 01 Plan
Trigger, outputs, failure cases and credentials agreed first.
- 02 Build
Step by step, with configuration verified as it goes.
- 03 Validate
Development, runtime and production-level checks.
- 04 Launch
Tested on sample data, then live runs watched closely.
What changed
- Data that moves between tools without copy and paste.
- Failures that raise an alert instead of disappearing.
- Workflows another developer can read and change.
